Tarrant County College and Texas Woman’s University have signed a dual enrollment agreement to create a seamless pathway for TCC Dental Hygiene students to complete the bachelor’s degree in Dental Hygiene at Texas Woman’s University. The agreement will take effect for the fall 2021 college term.
As part of the agreement, TCC Dental Hygiene students can complete the bachelor’s degree in Dental Hygiene from Texas Woman’s University with “less time to degree” via TWU’s Dual Enrollment Dental Hygiene Program.
Students can transfer 90 hours from TCC, with only 30 hours needed at TWU to complete the Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene. TCC students will take courses through TCC Northeast in Hurst, a facility that features a state-of-the-art dental clinic for students to access. All TWU courses will be delivered 100 percent online.
Dental hygienists are licensed oral health professional who focus on preventing and treating oral diseases to protect teeth and gums and on protecting patients’ total health. Employment of dental hygienists is projected to grow six percent from 2019 to 2029, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The median annual wage for dental hygienists was $77,090 in May 2020.
TCC’s Dental Hygiene program is accredited by the American dental Association Commission on Dental Accreditation.
